Eine Woche mithelfen, den Park von Cragside House (National Trust) zu pflegen hat sich als Super-Woche mit viel Spaß rausgestellt! Ich habe viel gelernt: kleine Bäume fällen, Rhododendron schneiden, sägen, verbrennen, Grünzeug schleppen – was ein Flapjack ist, verschiedene englische Begriffe, die ich hier nicht näher erklären möchte 🙂 und dass auch Engländer Probleme mit einem nordenglischen Akzent haben. Die Gruppe der Volunteers bestand aus sehr unterschiedlichen, tollen Leuten mit Tatkraft und Humor. Wir haben viel geschwitzt und viel gelacht. Eine herrliche Zeit! Einen besseren Einstieg hätte ich nicht finden können und bin nun versorgt mit vielen Tipps und Empfehlungen. Weiter gehts…

Helping for one week to maintain the park at Cragside House (National Trust) has proven to be a super week with lots of fun! I have learned a lot: to fell small trees, to cut, saw and burn rhododendrum, move lots of „green stuff“ , what a flapjack is, various english words I do not want to explain here 😉 and that even English speakers can find a challenge in a Northern accent. The group of volunteers consisted of fabulous and diverse persons with loads of energy and humour. We worked a lot and laughed a lot. A wonderful time! I could not have found a better start for my trip and got a lot of ideas and recommendations in my baggage now. To be continued…
