It needed 2 days of driving to get to Yellowstone National Park. Made a stop in Spokane and went on the next day. / 2 Tage Autofahrt waren notwendig, um zum Yellowstone National Park zu kommen. Ich übernachtete in Spokane und fuhr den nächsten Tag weiter.

Close to Spokane this „cloud“ made me a bit nervous – but it was from an almost quenched fire further away / In der Nähe von Spokane machte mich diese „Wolke“ etwas nervös – aber sie stammte von einem fast gelöschten Feuer in weiterer Entfernung

Spent a wonderful day with Jennifer from Chicago driving throuh the Columbia River Gorge – visiting viewpoints, waterfalls, going hiking and watching the sunset from Mount Hood. / Habe einen wunderschönen Tag mit Jennifer aus Chicago auf einer Fahrt durch das Tal des Columbia River verbracht. Haben Aussichtspunkte besucht und Wasserfälle, waren wandern und haben den Sonnenuntergang von Mount Hood aus gesehen.

Food carts are very typical for Portland – a guide told us there would be about 700 now. I had a typical lunch – it was inexpensive and very good – a man came with his synthesizer to play us a song – a man from the city service came fetching the garbage afterwards – a well organized weird world 🙂
Voodoo doughnuts – famous, excellent and I could not eat more than one. Was surprised how much Oregon is into brewing beer – made some tests in Portland – it was awesome!
Essbuden sind sehr typisch für Portland – ein Stadtführer sagte uns, es gäbe jetzt ca. 700 davon. Ich hatte ein typisches Mittagessen – es war günstig und sehr gut – ein Mann kam mit seinem Synthesizer und sang uns allen ein Lied – ein Müllmann holte später den Müll ab – eine gut organisierte eigenwillige Welt 🙂  Voodoo Doughnuts – berühmt, exzellent und ich konnte nur einen essen. War überrascht, wie stark Oregon im Bierbrauen ist – habe Tests vorgenommen – sie waren ausgezeichnet!

Portland – city with a spirit of her own – ˋKeep Portland weirdˋ they say  – I really liked the feeling of it and the many creative ideas.

The Olympic Peninsula with its mountains and rainforests were a stunning sight in blue sky and sunshine – and in the full moon. There was an organised night walk with an astronomist – special experience! And then I found that I am in famous Vampire area – Port Angeles, La Push, Forks – Twilight fans come here to see places and houses. Being here I had a look around – funny.
Die Olympic Halbinsel mit den Bergen und Regenwäldern waren ein wunderschöner Anlick bei blauem Himmel und Sonnenschein – und bei Vollmond. Es gab eine geführte Nachtwanderung mit einem Astronomen – eine besondere Erfahrung! Und dann stellte ich fest, dass ich in Vampirgebiet bin – Port Angeles, La Push, Forks – Twilight Fans reisen hierher, um die Orte und Häuser zu sehen. Da ist in der Gegend war, habe ich mich umgesehen – lustig.

My trip through the US started with a surprise: they still write „Germany (West) Fede“ into the passport. ??? Unfortunately I saw this too late to ask.
The first stop was in Seattle with hot summer days. I did a lot of touristy things, Space Needle, Waterfront, sightseeing Duck bus (goes into the water), Pike Market, EMP Museum etc. Thereˋs a lot to see thatˋs really interesting. But all in all I found Seattle very noisy and too much big city for me. There are homeless people everywhere begging or hanging around. It was the first time there that I took a taxi in the evening because I did not feel safe to walk back to the hostel. I was glad to leave in the end.
Meine Reise durch die USA begann mit einer Überraschung: sie schreiben noch immer „s.o.“ in den Reisepass. ??? Leider sah ich es zu spät um zu fragen.
Der erste Halt war Seattle mit heissen Sommertagen. Ich habe viele Touristendinge unternommen, Space Needle, Uferpromenade, Stadtrundfahrt mit Amphibienbus, Pike Markt, EMP Museum usw. Es gibt viel Interessantes zu sehen. Alles in allem fand ich Seattle aber sehr laut und viel zu sehr große Stadt für mich. Überall sind Obdachlose, die betteln oder herumhängen. Es war das erste Mal, dass ich abends ein Taxi genommen habe, weil ich mich nicht sicher fühlte, ins Hostel zurückzulaufen. Am Ende war ich froh rauszukommen.

My last days in Canada are over and I want to thank you wonderful guys out there who made it such a special trip for me! I really had a good  time! 🙂

A treat for my  last day was the show „Totem“ of the Cirque du Soleil – my face tells the story – I loved it!!!
Ein Sahnebonbon für meinen letzten Tag war die Show „Totem“ vom Cirque du Soleil – mein Gesicht zeigt es schon – es hat mich begeistert!!!

Being back here on the Island confirms my first impression: this is my favourite place in BC! Having a rental car now I saw much more this time. But what I enjoyed most was the area in the west with Tofino and Ucluelet! Now I am in Victoria before heading back to Vancouver on friday. And there is a lot to do with bookings and laundry and sorting my stuff. But whatever – the sun is shining! 🙂 /
Wieder hier angekommen auf Vancouver Island bestätigt sich mein erster Eindruck: dies ist mein Lieblingsbereich von British Columbia! Da ich nun einen Mietwagen habe, habe ich viel mehr ansehen können. Am meisten genossen habe ich aber die Westküste mit Tofino und Ucluelet! Nun bin ich in Victoria bevor ich am Freitag nach Vancouver zurückfahre. Und es gibt viel zu tun mit Wäsche, Buchungen und dem Sortieren und Ordnen meiner Sachen. Aber was sollˋs – draussen scheint die Sonne! 🙂

After a wet week in Prince Rupert I traveled on with Chris from Belgium and Katerina from Canada on board a BC Ferry to Port Hardy on Vancouver Island. We started early in the morning with dramatic clouds and rain and then enjoyed a beautiful sunshine day in this breathtaking beauty of the BC West Coast. We saw porpoises and a humpback whale and several bald eagles. 17 hours on the ferry went by swiftly. A beautiful day! / Nach einer nassen Woche in Prince Rupert bin ich mit Chris aus Belgien und Katerina aus Kanada an Bord einer BC Fähre nach Port Hardy auf Vancouver Island weitergereist. Wir sind früh am morgen losgefahren mit dramatischen Wolken und Regen und haben dann einen herrlichen Sonnentag in der atemberaubenden Schönheit der BC Westküste genossen. Wir haben Delphine, einen Buckelwal und einige Weisskopfseeadler gesehen. 17 Stunden auf der Fähre vergingen wie im Flug. Ein wunderschöner Tag!
